China's He Bingjiao Reaches Women's Singles Last Eight at
Sixth seed He Bingjiao beat Chinese teammate Han Yue in straight sets to reach the women's singles quarterfinals of the Badminton World Championships here on Thursday.
The 22-year-old, the bronze medalist last year, won 21-18, 21-14 over the 14th seed Han.
She will next face either third seed Nozomi Okuhara of Japan or 10th seed Sung Ji-hyun of the Republic of Korea on Friday.
"It is a difficult match," He said. "We know each other very well and I know that she will never give up even if I am taking the lead."
Elsewhere, seventh-seeded Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand fought back from one set down to defeat Indonesia's Gregoria Mariska Tunjung 18-21, 23-21, 21-10.
Singapore's Yeo Jia Min, who upset top seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the second round, reached the quarterfinals for the first time in her career with a victory over Vietnam's Thi Trang Vu 21-15, 14-21, 21-16.
The 19-year-old Yeo will next take on Intanon.
